The Navajo Code Talkers Museum & Veterans Center Project is a multifaceted building plan that envisions the creation of a complete destination experience. Designed to provide an immersive learning environment, the Museum will feature powerful interactive exhibits and activities, living demonstrations of the Navajo code and culture, and classrooms for educational seminars and programs.
A sense of place is important to the Navajo people. The place of this Museum will incorporate the surrounding geography and desert landscape of the 208 acre site to help foster an understanding of the Navajo culture as it relates to the land and the strong sense of respect and tradition the land engenders. A veterans' center and on-site lodging for visitors and veterans is also intended for this site. Upon completion in the later part of 2011 or early 2012, the Navajo Code Talker Museum will be both an attraction to visitors as well as a hub of cultural reinforcement for the Navajo community. This exciting project is one the Navajo Code Talkers Foundation hopes everyone will want to share in and support.
A Personal Legacy >Many of the Navajo Code Talkers had made such a cause as this their life-long work and contribution to the memory and contribution of these brave warriors. Thus, these are exciting times for Navajo Code Talkers. They've waited so patiently for a museum of their own. While some other smaller Code Talker memorials exist, this Museum will be the first developed and sponsored by the Navajo Code Talkers themselves, one that will share their unique stories and gifts personally presented for posterity. At the Navajo Code Talkers Foundation, members have long shared their desire to create this lasting legacy. Their stories are priceless treasures that must be gathered, presented and shared. Help us preserve this great American story.
